Beth
Hamilton

Vocalist
and lead guitarist Beth Hamilton, a former rock music fan, was introduced
to bluegrass music through Sue Stude and Dean Sapp, co-owners of Power Music, near Elkton, MD.
As a child,
Beth played the violin. She played with the Rhode Island Junior Philharmonic for about
five years before moving to Maryland. By fifth grade, she began teaching herself to play
guitar. Some twenty years later, she began taking lessons from Dean Sapp, who also built
the beautiful, full sounding guitar she plays with Blue Heaven.
With fellow former Gospel Vixen, Joyce Copenhaver, Beth began playing
music with friends who were getting together to sing Gospel music. At the time, she was
not familiar with the Lord, but through the love of her friends and the joy she found in
the music, she was led to give her heart to the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life
would be changed forever.
Joyce had been
taking lessons from Dean Sapp, and Beth began to take lessons from him as well. With Sue
Stude, they soon formed a trio, "Three For One" that was the predecessor to Gospel Vixens.
Beths
skillful guitar work and lead and harmony vocals are an integral part of Blue Heaven's
sound. |
