Blue Heaven

Jackie Irwin

Jackie started playing bass guitar at age 12, and switched to acoustic guitar a year or two later. Although she loves all kinds of music, she mostly played acoustic rock & fingerstyle guitar music for herself. Aside from some jazz guitar lessons in her twenties, she is a self-taught player.

In the early 1990's, Jackie met Sharon & Danny O'Connor.  Danny plays lap slide guitar and can really sing. Sharon would play guitar, stand up bass, or mandolin. The three would get together once a week and play country style music, a lot of public domain songs and some of Danny's original material.

Sharon's work with the Gospel Vixens familiarized Jackie more with bluegrass music, and she assisted the group with their web page and the production of the "Live at the Rex" CD."

When the Gospel Vixens disbanded, Sharon & Aideen invited her to play with them and the name was changed to Blue Heaven. As the lineup has changed, Jackie has now switched back to bass guitar to lend some bottom end to the Blue Heaven sound.
